Current Status
The Commission for the Management of Land Traffic (CMLT) Meeting No. 1/2024 on December 23, 2024, resolved in principle to approve the MRTA to study the feasibility details of the Red Line extension, the Blue Line, and the Green Line projects as proposed by MRTA. Currently, MRTA is preparing the procurement for the consultanat to conduct the feasibility study.

The route alignment
The route starts at Nakornping Hospital as a ground level structure, running along Chotana Road (Highway No. 107) until the Chiang Mai Court intersection. It then turns right, following Somphot 700th Anniversary Chiang Mai Years Road until the Somphot 700th Anniversary Chiang Mai Stadium intersection. After crossing the Chonprathan canal, it turns left onto Chonprathan Road, continuing until the NongHor intersection. From there, it turns left, running along to NongHor Road (Highway No. 1366) until the Kong Kamlung Pha Muang intersection, The alignment transitions into an underground tunnel. It then turns right again along Chotana Road, passing under Khuang Sing intersection underpass, and continues along Chang Phuak Road, past Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, until Manee Nopparat Road (the northern outer moat road). It then turns right until Jang Hua Lin Corner, then turns left along Boonruangrit Road, passing Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital.....
