On January 20, 2018, Mr. Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Minister of Transport along with Mr. Pairin Chuchotethavorn, Deputy Minister of Transport and administrators of Ministry of Transport inspected the 4th exercise of Risk Management Plan and Incident Action Plan of Mass Rapid Transit System in Bangkok Metropolitan Region which was hosted by Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) and Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) at the blue line platform level of Tao Pun Station. The minister was welcomed by Mr. Rithika Suparat, Deputy Governor (Administration), Acting Governor of MRTA, Dr. Sombat Kitjalaksana, Managing Director of BEM, and administrators of MRTA and BEM.
The exercise is the part of the MOU on Cooperation in Risk Management Plan and Incident Action Plan of Mass Rapid Transit System in Bangkok Metropolitan Region which was signed by Ministry of Transport and concerned parties, total 13 parties on June 29, 2016, at Ministry of Transport Office. The MOU is designed to establish joint work for an efficient solution in case of technical failure on the mass rapid transit system in Bangkok Metropolitan Region, as well as to establish the coordination between concerned parties. According to the MOU, each party must perform their duty following “Work Manual of the Risk Management Plan and Incident Action Plan of Mass Rapid Transit System in Bangkok Metropolitan Region” to help mass rapid transit operators to be able to solve problems and carry on their service instantly. The MOU rules mass rapid transit operators of MRT, BTS, and Airport Rail Link to take turns hosting the exercise every 4 months.
