In order for the MRTA Blue Line System to be successful, it must
serve a large number of riders. For the entire urban transport system
to function most effectively, it will be necessary for all of transit
modes (mass rapid transit, light rail, buses, ferries, pedestrian
traffic, etc.) and urban land development in general to compliment
one another in an integrated and structured manner. Plans for such
intermodal and land use coordination must be developed prior to
the commencement of the MRTA Blue Line service.
So, in August, 2000 MRTA engaged Mouchel Group to prepare station
development and intermodal transfer facilities master plan for MRTA
Blue Line, and prepare facility design and bidding documents. The
study will be completed in the following 18 months.
